My Quit Story Series Strives to Save Lives

In an effort to reduce the number of deaths in WI related to nicotine addiction, ten local community members have been recorded sharing their tobacco quit stories. Annually over 7000 Wisconsin residents die because of smoking and over 40% of those deaths are individuals with substance use and mental health disorders.

The “My Quit Story” series is meant to inspire other tobacco users to consider quitting. Each local quit story talks about what motivated them to quit, quit attempt obstacles, and cessation resources.

Healthiest Manitowoc County, in partnership with the Lakeshore Tobacco Prevention Network, Lighthouse Recovery Community Center, Painting Pathways Clubhouse and Lakeshore Community Health Care worked collaboratively to identify persons with lived experience to share their quit stories and help save lives.

Cessation resources are available at no cost to support the individual quit journey. If you are ready to quit smoking for free contact the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669).
