National Prevention Week is May 14-18. We will be hosting one event each day of this week! Please see below for descriptions of these events:

Monday: Cigarette Butt Cleanup

Students from the area will gather at Union Park for an icebreaker, cigarette butt cleanup, and snacks.

Tuesday: Family Game Night

Stop by the patio behind Brian’s Smokehouse to play some board games with your family or friends! Games will be provided. Feel free to stop into Brian’s for some delicious food! You can find the menu for Brian’s here

Wednesday: Narcan Training

Come to the Community Room at Lakeshore Community Health Care in Manitowoc for an ARCW – provided training in the use of Narcan/naloxone. This is a medication that can revive and save the life of a person overdosing from an opioid. The training will last about 30-45 minutes, and injectable Narcan will be available for those who would like to take some with them.

Thursday: Scavenger Hunt

Gather in Balkansky Room A at the Manitowoc Public Library at 6pm for our scavenger hunt!  Participating in this event will help you learn more about the opioid epidemic and how you can help prevent misuse! We will provide instructions, set you loose, and then after about a half hour of hunting, we will gather once again in Balkansky Room A for a short debrief. There will be pizza, soda and water, and prizes for participating! Prizes include: Amazon Fire, chamber bucks, and books. Teams and individuals welcome! There will also be booths for local agencies.

Friday: Mindfulness Stretching in the Park

Grab an exercise mat or towel and join us in the field behind Holy Family Memorial Behavioral Health for some stress relieving stretching! If it rains, we will use the conference room at HFM Behavioral Health, instead.
